Established in 2019, PaChikaya specializes in the production of high quality fish Fingerlings (seed). Having grown within the aquaculture sector, our company is client driven and has identified possible challenges affecting the growth and sustainability of the Aquaculture sector and expanded it’s product offering to include: Extension services, Aquaculture training, fish farming business management as well as feed production training.
PaChikaya has also developed a fish outgrower scheme currently being piloted with some cooperatives along lake Kairiba. This outgrower scheme is aimed at providing a solution to the challenge of access to credit in rural areas for both women and the youths, especially to get involved in fish farming. Once successful the company intends to role this out to other areas within the country.
Since our establishment, we have expanded our operations to four countries in the region: Zambia, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Uganda. PaChikaya Limited is currently the only organisation in the Zambian aquaculture sector to have been awarded the Ecomark labelling certification by the African Organisation for Standardisation, ARSO.
We produce fingerlings through multiple stages, including spawning, incubation, fry rearing, and fingerling rearing, in specialized ponds or hatcheries. We aim to increase fingerling production so as to support local fish production and reduce reliance on imports.
Building or modifying ponds and hatcheries, designing and implementing feeding systems for efficient and accurate feeding while considering the feeding behavior and nutritional needs of various fish species.
We offer training in fish farming, production of fingerlings, feeding and types of fish feeds, design and construction of aquacultural structures and ponds.

We're excited to share that we're in the process of relocating to our new sites in Kafue, masaiti and samfya from Makeni. This move is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our services and better serve our valued clients. We are further developing sites in Nchelenge Luapula province, in order to expand our product offering.
